Wayne Montgomery started his music endeavours back when he was just 11
years old. Having been taught 3 guitar chords by his Uncle, he
continued to teach himself chords using a Beatles song book that he
had. Though not very good, he wrote his first song when he was 12 and
that was the start of the music career. Wayne played in and was the
lead singer in several bands throughout the 80's including Cornerstone
and Labrynth. "I think my style was altered more, however, when I
paired with a good friend of mine, Lew D'Souza, and we wrote and
performed songs which were reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel/Lennon &
McCartney/Everly Brothers type of sound with dual harmonies" recalls
Wayne. Wayne and Lew appeared on the local Scarborough Cable channel
several times in the 1980's on a talent show. "We were actually asked
to return, which certainly helped with confidence", adds Wayne, "We
even had people recognize us in public."
Wayne's heavy Beatles influence is evident in his original material but also has been heavily influenced amongst others by the likes of Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Pink Floyd, The Who and, of course, Billy Joel. Wayne appeared in several singing competitions throughout the 90's and was most recently nominated as Male Vocalist of the Year and Country Recording of the Year by the Durham Region Music Society. Tony Cipro was referred to Wayne regarding website design but quickly learned of Wayne's Musical talent. "We were talking music and I learned that Wayne was in some bands and he did a Billy Joel impersonation. After an audition there were no questions left. I asked him to join me in Xtreme Entertainers and was lucky enough to add another member. I am looking forward to saying.. Here he is Ladies and Gentlemen... straight from New York... Billy Joel".
